Whether you are pleased or peeved I hope you have prayed this morning!
Pray for the leaders. Pray for their wisdom and discernment. Pray for them to be self-sacrificing and not self-serving.
What have we learned? Watch and weigh your words! Even a few can result in profound consequences. The media said two key Senate races were turned in large part by the rape comments from two candidates. We don’t always get to explain nor edit what we say. So, say it clearly the first time.
A candidate’s view on a single issue can determine an election. Naturally, people care most about what effects them the most. But, rather than considering all facets of a candidate, many voters keyed in on one issue and disregarded the rest of the candidate’s platform. (The candidates’ advertisements fueled this fire!) So, when dealing with others in personal or business life consider all the facts before decisions are made.
Finally, since there was no clear mandate the president faces deep partisan division and needs to find a way to deal with the deadlock for the good of our country. We don’t get to pick and choose who receives God’s love or forgiveness. Show and give it to all!
What does the Christian do? Pray! You don’t have to like or agree with someone to pray for them!
Remember – The Christian does possess a clear mandate from God – boldly live it.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” Luke 10:27
