Yesterday marked Veteran’s Day and today, the official federal holiday, as you discovered if you tried to do business with the Post Office!
It seems the culture prefers observing the holiday through appliance, mattress and furniture sales, but we know better. This day is opportunity for gratitude and reflection. War is neither glamorous nor glorious, but sometimes necessary for the greater good.
Those of you who served our nation, THANK YOU! You saved us from harm and we appreciate your sacrifice. Even if you came back “healthy and whole,” war changes us and our families. It takes time to adjust to civilian life, challenges and choices. Sometimes it’s a process and we may need others including professionals to help and that’s okay.
And, bring God into the mix. Your hurts and hopes are His Holy speciality.
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:4
“God only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I will not be shaken.” Psalm 62:6
Remember, God often uses the crock pot rather than the microwave method to grow our faith and trust. But that’s alright – we have eternity.
Growing in Gratitude, PJ
