Today supposedly brings more Internet traffic than any other. Eyes focus in and fingers hover over keyboards in desperate searches for dandy deals. The sales ring up and you’re likely a willing participant. And, why not? Saving a buck is well worth it. But, it takes time, energy and apt attention. Maybe you stayed up last night narrowing your selections or perhaps you’ve surfed the net for days in order to snatch those Thanksgiving specials, Black Friday bargains and Cyber Monday sales.
What else is worth all those minutes, mindfulness, might and money? Could God be in the picture? Consider the words of Jesus.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
What if we put all that effort into honoring God and helping others?
“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power …” Revelation 4:11a
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
” … love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:39
“‘For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’” Matthew 25:35-36, 40
What about letting the Lord God lead your life rather than all that other short-lived loot?
