Cop Kindness

Looking back on the week’s headlines, we can’t help but be touched by the New York cop’s incredible act of kindness.  Officer Lawrence DePrimo was working a counterterrorism post when he noticed a homeless and barefooted man.  The officer left and shortly returned  with a new pair of boots.  He knelt and helped the man put them on.

The photo taken by an Arizona tourist was posted to the NYPD official Facebook page and made DePrimo an Internet hero.

Unfortunately, this is considered an incredible act.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if this were simply viewed as a normal act of every-day human courtesy?  But, many folks face life too stressed, self-centered or sullen to notice others’ needs let alone actually help meet those needs.

Slow down and consider Christ’s words.

“Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but the rotten tree bears bad fruit.  So then, you will know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:17, 20

Which fruit will you produce today?  To whom will you show godly kindness?
