Bible Thought Blessing – 2 Corinthians 5:17

New Year Blessings!  Prayer requests?

2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come.”

The Apostle Paul wrote these words to the church in Corinth.  He explained that identification with Christ requires one to die to self.  In fact; believers (v15), “no longer live for themselves but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.”  We walk out of the old life and enter into a new one with Christ firmly at the controls.

In the busyness of the daily grind it’s easy to forget who runs your life.  The waning days of 2012 offer opportunity for reflection.  It’s not exactly New Year resolutions, but the chance to evaluate your Christianity habits over the last 12 months and determine what you will change, add or maintain.

Perhaps 2013 is the year for you to read the Bible regularly; to join a Bible study group; to become a member of a church; to engage in daily prayer; to grow more vocal in your beliefs, or to be more involved in ministry to others.  What’s stopping you?

View the new year as a clean slate or freshly fallen snow.  You can make the first marks or tracks on the new year.  What will they be?  Where will they lead?  Be intentional and determine now how you will die to self and live for Christ.  Who and what will you be in 2013?
