Bible Thought Blessings – John 8:12

Blessings of strong faith this week.

John 8:12, “Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Last night the spouse and I walked our country ranch road guided by a single flashlight. The rocky dusty path stretches 1800 feet from the cattle guard near the house to the front gate.  We trekked it twice.

The light highlighted the immediate obstacles – only what we needed to see to continue to step forward.  If one of us darted ahead, lagged behind or veered beside the light we traveled in darkness.  At the edges of the light rested unknown shadows and in the country, the unknown might contain coyotes, bobcats, downed trees or gnarled roots.

We could only see as far as the light shone and no further.  As long as we remained in the light, we were safe and the path clear.

With Jesus, the Light of the world, we live by faith that He will illuminate the next step which He reveals only when we need to see it.  We waste time when thoughts carry us to fret the future, puzzle, pout and stay in pain from the past or be perplexed about the present.

No matter if you face a horrific health diagnosis, financial failure or relationship ruin, trust the one true Light.  Walk only where His Light shines.  He is the only sure path.
