Bible Blessings – The Flagstone Path – Matthew 7:24-26

Blessings of God’s strength this week in whatever you face! Prayer requests?

Matthew 7:24-26, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.  And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.  Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.”

Up near the ranch house, we laid out decomposed granite paths. They looked more natural and more in keeping with the relaxed rustic feel. However, even though plastic was laid down to prevent encroachment of weeds and wayward grasses, those still worked their way through the pebbles. Pulling and spraying became a constant battle. Finally, we’d had enough and decided to cement in large flagstone pieces to replace the gravel. It provides a solid and sightly path that resists weeds, grasses and erosion.

When we build our life on God’s Word, He enables us to resist the weeds of worry, the grasses of pressure and the erosion of faith. Like that new flagstone path, stand strong and secure against all storms of life. Lean on the Savior and leave the battles to God.

On what and with whom will you build your life this week?
