Bible Blessings – The Helper – John 16:26

Blessings of comfort! Prayer requests?

John 16:26, “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me.”

From time to time on the ranch extra hands are needed to repair broken pipes, prepare fields, haul in hay, mow pastures, spray for weeds and grasshoppers, stock ponds, trim brush from under cedar elms and oaks or chop down dead trees. While it is possible for a single person to accomplish these, the work is harder and takes longer.

Jesus knew all too well life’s struggles, so He assured his followers of divine provision after His departure following His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. I imagine comfort and peace washed over those first listeners upon hearing these words. God, in His full knowledge and perfect benevolence, realized human need. Believers required assistance in order to follow His Word and live His Way in the world. So He provided, not simply some help, but a Helper.

Dear Christian, you are not alone to fight whatever you face, be it pain, injustice, sorrow, opposition, stress. God guarantees the believer of the delivery and presence of the Holy Spirit, who also proclaims the Son. With great mercy and grace God furnishes the Advocate, the Paraclete, the Spirit of Truth, the Teacher, the Constant, the Witness Bearer, the Guide, the Reminder, the Discloser, the Helper … the Holy Spirit.

Will you allow entry of His support, guidance, and comfort? Will you embrace God’s Spirit?
