Easter Blessings! The Irises

Easter Blessings, dear friend! Prayer requests?

Gentle shades of purple smudged with golden centers dot the front garden. Throughout the last couple of weeks I watched while sword-shaped leaf bundles of purple-bearded irises flourished and thick stately stalks emerged. In the past few days numerous buds burst into showy blooms. Their unique design maximizes insect pollination insuring the floral species survival. A dear friend gifted me with rhizome bunches after gently uprooting them from her yard. Soon after, I buried them in mine, and each spring the precious petals blossom with new life and serve as reminders of the beauty of friendship and the blessing of her gracious gift.

This Easter I am reminded of God’s gift of love, His Son, Jesus.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

He was uprooted from heaven to experience life on earth and that life bloomed in perfection. In God’s precise time, Jesus willingly died on the cross and was buried, but the story continues. Jesus rose in newness of everlasting life, and through Him, so will you and I when we choose to receive His gift of grace through faith.

“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4

“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

God designed His unique gift to insure your eternal survival. Those irises only bring glimpses of joy and beauty, but the reality of that first Easter reminds us of the ultimate beauty of relationship with God and the everlasting blessing found only in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Will you choose His new life today?
