Spreading Spiritual Encouragement

Declining health has forced a long-time friend to all but give up regular church attendance. However, recently she experienced three spiritual encounters. The first two involved repairmen working at the house. On separate occasions each shared a Bible verse during the course of conversation which surprised her and impressed her deeply – a touch from God through their words.

The third encounter was with a local church staff member. While she appreciated his visit, it struck her odd that during the 30 minutes, he neither spoke from the Bible or offered prayer. In fact, even though the time was pleasant, he shared no spiritual encouragement with her at all. She felt a little bewildered and disappointed.

Spiritual words came from the unexpected source rather than the expected. Dear Christian, let’s be that consistent source of godly words and steer clear of disappointing those who expect more from a Christian. Those walking close to Jesus have everything to offer the Hurting because of Him.

“Dear Lord, help me spread spiritual encouragement like rich top soil in gardens of gardenias and planters of pansies. Thank you, Amen.”

Blessings of godly timing with words! Prayer requests?
