Are You Picking the Best and Leaving the Rest?

A good solid ‘thump’ reveals the ripeness of cantaloupe or watermelon. A deep dark green shows perfect broccoli or green beans. An in-date ‘use by’ or ‘sell by’ lends confidence with milk, eggs or yogurt. And firmness in apples or squash demonstrates readiness. All encourage the right choice in food purchasing, but what about right choices in life? Does God give such obvious signs in the real world?

Yes, He does! Consider the wise words of the Psalmist that can guide our thoughts and actions.

“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You,” Psalm 9:10

“. . . My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation,” 13:5

“I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies,” 18:3

“I will give thanks to You . . .” 18:49a

“The Lord is my light and my salvation . . .” 27:1a

“The Lord is my strength and my shield . . .” 28:7a

“Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers,” 37:1

“. . . do good . . .” 37:3b

“Commit your way to the Lord,” 37:5

“When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You,” 56:3

“Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us,” 62:8b

“To all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth,” 89:1b

“Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker,” 95:6

“I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me,” 119:30

“Let me hear Your loving kindness in the morning . . . Teach me the way in which I should walk; for to You I lift up my soul,” 143:8

Maybe it’s not so much a choice between this or that, but making the first choice, and right one, to focus daily on God and His point of view. Somehow all that other ‘stuff’ falls into place and choices become clear!

“Dear Lord, Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; be gracious to me and hear my prayer (Psalm 4:1). Thank you, Amen.”

Blessings of knowing and doing life God’s way! Prayer requests?
